Alignment

An Open Badges 3.0 field linking an achievement to external skill frameworks — ESCO, O*NET, Lightcast, or custom.

Open Badges 3.0 alignment is a multi-framework mapping: an achievement can declare that it corresponds to entries in ESCO, O*NET, or custom taxonomies, all in the same credential. Each Alignment entry has targetFramework (ESCO, CUSTOM, etc.), targetCode, targetName, targetType (a CEASN competency type URI), and targetUrl.

This makes OB 3.0 credentials interoperable with labor-market intelligence tools, career-pathway platforms, and policy frameworks — the same signed credential can be consumed by a recruiter using O*NET mappings or by an EU agency using ESCO mappings without re-issuing.

LearnCoin passes tenant-provided alignment entries through to the signed credential unchanged. The mapping is a pedagogical decision that belongs to the tenant — LearnCoin does not offer skill-mapping services. Wrong mappings would be cryptographically committed and unfixable.
